This contest was ran through Airbrush Action Magazine. To enter, the rules stated that I needed to purchase a blank skull and then paint it with any design I wanted.
My theme was "Garden of Eden". Evolution of man...skull...hey, I thought it was a great way to tie in the theme to the 'canvas'.
On the top of the skull is a shot of Eden, complete with a waterfall that disappears but reappears on the face, trickling through the teeth and over rocks. A tree trunk runs through the eye area and there is the body of a snake hanging on the trunk on the back of the skull. On the snake is the apple. The apple has a hidden silhouette of Eve, the temptation. Through the eye holes I fashioned a snake from air dry clay and fiberglass resin. I painted it and attached it to the eye holes and it disappears under the jaw.
I was honored that it earned first place in the Airbrush Excellence contest! I have attached below a few photos of my Garden of Eden skull.
Beginning in February, 2016, I became an instructor for Airbrush Action Magazine's "Airbrush Getaways"! I am honored to now have my own 1-day class "Intro to Airbrushing" and to work next to the great Gary Worthington for our 4-day "Airbrush Mastery" class! Come join the fun!
